Based on these high expectations Tanya, Camila, Sarah and I had a planning session tonight and created Plan A: Some introductions, a warm-up mango tossing game, an art project, then recreo/softball and if time permits, a paper airplane making contest, just to sneak in a bit of STEM. Of course we have Plans B, C, and D at the ready just in case.
Our goal is to make it fun so that the campers want to come back. And our over arching goal really is to make connections with this community and to hear from them what we can do to help out.
I wonder if a good place to begin would be to start a letter writing campaign to Banco Azul to ask them to finish installing the new software the local restaurants need so that they can accept credit cards again and not lose all their tourist business. Or maybe not. Just a thought.
Don’t have any pictures of the camp yet but here’s a lovely bunch of mangos. So happy they’re in season!
